Cataclysm Beta Guild Contest Winner
Grats to the Woot Dawgs for being a winner of the Cataclysm Beta Guild Contest! See excerpt from Blizzard email which Van received yesterday Aug 2nd, 2010:
Congratulations!
Your guild has been selected as a winner of the Cataclysm Beta – Guild Contest! Your entry is one of 500 chosen to receive invitations to the Cataclysm beta based on your essay.
It is legit. Van confirmed it over the phone last night. Also see Wow.com for further explanation of the emails 499 other guilds received yesterday.
We are only able to invite 10 guildies, whom we have already contacted. We chose our most active and reliable raiders, those who have been full members the longest, and players who have represented our guild consistently according to our values.
Here is the text of our winning essay, composed by Bats, with the help of her editors Van and Fate
Thank you to Fate for making us aware about the contest.
There is only one guild on US realms called The Woot Dawgs. A 10-man Alliance endgame raiding guild on US Server Nordrassil, The Woot Dawgs was established in April 2010 when two friends Van and Bats returned to the game after months-long absence. We had become disillusioned with an online gaming community where joining a guild feels like applying for a job, raid leaders treat team members like disobedient children, and players put each other down publicly in trade chat.
We had stopped having fun. More than once we had changed guilds and Bats had transferred servers, but we loved the game too much to quit. We decided to regroup and establish our own guild according to our own rules and shared values. Our raiders are not only good players but nice people, whose hard work and character are reflected in the success of our raids.
From a start-up composed of two friends Van and Bats, and Van’s daughter, The Woot Dawgs has grown to become a 100-man guild, with over 50 unique accounts. Our ICC 10 1st team has cleared the Lower Spire and Plagueworks and looks forward to killing the Lich King. We also partner with a well-established guild Aqua Teen Hunger Force for 25-man ICC.
The Woot Dawgs is about having fun, killing raid bosses, and treating people like people. We are good people, and we pwn Putricide.
The Woot Dawgs is on the Web at wootdawgs.com

Sindragosa Notes
I’d like us to get on the same page on this fight. Last night, it seemed like there were 3 or 4 people talking at once, and I couldn’t get my head straight. Basically, we just need one plan, and we need to see it through.
1) I will not use Aspect of the Pack to help us run out faster from Icy Grip because it seems to be confusing people. After we are loose from her grip, we should run asap back to the steps. After she is done casting Blistering Cold, we get back in range to attack. Blistering Cold looks like a patch of frost on the ground and radiates up to 25 years away from the dragon.
2) During phase 2, ppl seem to scatter like ants as soon as the boss gets in the air. Do not scatter. If we position the boss like we did last night, all raid members except the ones who will be entombed should run to the steps and wait. The players who are Frost Beaconed should run to designated spots 10 yds in front of the steps and 10 yds away from each other. When they are turned into Ice Tombs, then raid members can hide behind the Ice Tombs and dps them. Ice Tombs should only be dps’d to 10% until boss is about to land. Then all remained entombed players should be dps’d out of the Ice Tombs.
3) During phase 2, the boss casts frost bombs on the ground. We need to LOS the bombs by hiding behind the Ice Tombs. Think of the first boss fight in Pit of Saron. In that fight we hide behind the rocks to evade frost damage. In Sindragosa fight, a round icy patch will appear where she will drop the Frost Bomb. Hide on the side of the Ice Tomb that is not facing that icy patch, so that you are behind the Ice Tomb when the Frost Bombs explode.
4) Although, we haven’t reached phase 3 and seen it in person, we know that the dragon will retain all her phase 1 abilities: Icy Grip, Blistering Cold, and the 2 separate debuffs on casters and physical dps. Since she will be permanently grounded, she will no longer cast the Frost Bombs in phase 2. Instead, she will cast Mystic Buffet which will cause raid-wide damage. The raid will need to hide behind an Ice Tomb to minimize this damage. We will have to designate an area where the Ice Tomb should be positioned. Most likely, this area will be behind her front legs.
I like the way we’ve managed the transition from Phase 1 to Phase 2. I think we need to work more on positioning and raid awareness, knowing where to go and what to do when we get there.
Although we one-shotted all the bosses we killed last night, we still had quite a few deaths. I blame that on my poor raid leadership, as I wasn’t as prepared as I should have been.
about Bats..
LOST Ana Lucia and Jack talk Kate..
Since Bats and I started this guild up, well back up..revived it, I’ve been asked “so what’s with you and Bats” hehe, I can’t help but giggle when this comes up. Bats is a good friend, mentor on things beyond WoW and darn good hunter, raid leader and co gm. Having that said that this question sorta reminds me of a scene in one of my favorite shows. See link above.

Sindragosa Summary
Sindragosa spawns after the frost wyrms Rimefang and Spinestalker are killed.
HP: 11+ million
Hard enrage: 10 mins
Phases: 3
Phase 1 Abilities
1) Frost Aura, Frost Breath (might need Frost Resist gear)
2) Unstable Magic — will be placed on random caster. Caster has to stop casting until debuff wears off.
3) Permeating Chill — she arms herself with a Permeating Chill which can damage physical dps (melee and hunters). They need to stop hitting boss until debuff wears off.
4) Icy Grip — she pulls raid in and casts Blistering Cold. Everyone needs to get away from her asap. Then when Blistering Cold cast is down, raid can reposition.
Phase 2 Abilities
1) Ice Tombs & Frost Bombs — At 85%, Boss will fly into the air, 2 random raid players will be entombed in Ice, and boss will cast 4 Frost Bombs on the ground. Players need to LOS the Bombs behind Ice Tombs.
2) Boss puts Frost Beacon on player 5 secs before they are entombed. We should pick a spot for the beaconed player to run to where they turn to ice. When player gets to spot, dps the ice tomb.
Phase 3 Abilities
1) At 35% boss is permanently grounded, continues all Phase 1 abilities, except Frost Bombs. Heroism should be cast at this time.
2) Mystic Buffet — this will damage anyone within boss’s LOS. Players should use Ice Tombs to manage debuff.
